Entrance Requirements for Actors Intensive: Working With Directors

Age

Applicants must have grade 12 or equivalency, or be 19 years of age or older. If under 19, the applicant must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to participate in the program.

Application

Applicants may complete the application online or download the form as a PDF and email, or print it and mail it to the school.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for this program.

Auditions

The audition provides an opportunity for the applicant to show their ability in naturalistic acting. Online auditions are permissible. Applicants who have successfully completed the Victoria Academy of Dramatic Arts’ Acting for Film and TV program, do not need to audition.

Literacy Test

The program is administered in English, as such the literacy test is fundamental to show your proficiency with English. All applicants are required to be interviewed by Academy faculty. The applicant must demonstrate proficiency in reading aloud, specifically, the applicant must read with very little stumbling or pausing at a rate of 100-120 words per minute, and must speak clearly enough to be understood by faculty present at the audition.

Experience

The applicant must have 800 hours of acting training or equivalent training and experience. Examples of experience qualifying the applicant for 800 hours of acting training include completion of the Academy’s Acting for Film and TV program, another diploma or degree program in acting/film/theatre, or 800 hours of equivalent training and/or experience in acting. The applicant can explain how they meet this requirement in their application and/or interview.
