A Student Actor’s Experience
When I first began my acting journey, I struggled with constant anxiety, which led to ineffective scene work. Even after a year, despite making significant improvements, my nervousness never diminished. So, in order to ease myself and perform better, I ignored what others think by doing the following; commit to the scene, focus on my objective, put my attention on my scene partner, and breathe.
If I forget my lines, no problem! I stay with my scene partner and lock eyes on them to stay present and therefore in the scene.
I’m proud that I stay committed to the end, because that is a triumph in itself. And I received tons of positive feedback from the instructor and fellow classmates, which is very reassuring.
This process has not only contributed to my growth as an actor but has also increased my confidence and well-being as an individual.
