Course Description:

Successful portrayals of Heroes and Villains have contributed to some of the most iconic, larger than life screen characters, supporting multi-billion dollar franchise films. Join us as we re-create these characters and scenes, giving you a superhero card in your back pocket to call on at your leisure. This course will provide you with newfound confidence as you take on these characters.

And here’s what students say about this course: “I may not be famous, yet, but what I do have is a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired while studying at VAD Arts.”

This community class is also known as Scene Study and is part of our Scene Study Program.

Please note that part-time studies do not constitute career training.

  • “I recently attended Scene Study – Classic Films.  It exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in both classic film, and the interpretation of film scripts in general.  Our instructor, Kara Flanagan, along with our Teaching Assistant, were engaging, and ensured that all participants were included and supported.  As I had previously looked at scripts from the perspective of stage acting, this offered a fresh and transferrable way of diving into a script.  As a wonderful side benefit, it was fun with lots of laughs!”

    – Julie Gray, Actor

  • “I really enjoyed this class- a fun, low-stress way to hone one’s acting skills, either for a new actor who’s just starting out, or an experienced actor seeking to expand their repertoire or refresh their skills.  I particularly appreciated the variety of material we worked with, from different genres and styles.”

    – Anton Brakhage, Actor
